Personal Bio
Dr. Shi Hui Cheng is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham
Malaysia, with research interests centred on public health nutrition, digital and
rural food environments, obesity prevention and intervention, exercise promotion,
and sustainable food systems. Her work focuses on developing evidence-based
strategies to improve dietary behaviours, promote healthier lifestyles, and reduce
the burden of nutrition-related chronic diseases.
Over the past five years, Dr. Cheng has led and contributed to numerous nationally
and internationally funded research projects, including studies on digital food
environments, workplace health interventions, dietary behaviour, physical activity,
the syndemic of food insecurity, micronutrient deficiencies, and nutrition-related
mental health. She is also actively involved in community engagement and
capacity-building programmes that translate research into practical public health
initiatives.
Dr. Cheng has delivered invited lectures at academic conferences, professional
seminars, and public health events. She collaborates extensively with researchers,
healthcare professionals, industry partners, and government agencies across
Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and China. Through interdisciplinary and international
collaborations, her research aims to advance health equity, strengthen community
resilience, and empower individuals with sustainable, evidence-based solutions for
healthier dietary and lifestyle behaviours.
