ICMMGH 2023

The International Conference on Modern Medicine and Global Health (ICMMGH 2023) was a hybrid conference which includes several workshops (offline and online) around the world. Dr. Lili Asma Ismail from UCSI University, and Dr. Sheiladevi Sukumaran from SEGi University have chaired these workshops on related topics. ICMMGH 2023 provided the participants with good opportunities to exchange ideas and build networks, and it will lead to further collaborations between both universities and other societies.

Workshop Chair: Dr. Lili Asma Ismail, Associate Professor in UCSI University

The School of Optometry, UCSI University, in academic cooperation with the International Conference of Modern Medicine and Global Health, 2023, organized a Vision Screening Workshop titled "Empowering Teachers to Conduct Vision Screening on School Children" on 10th March 2023 at Le Quadri, Block E, UCSI University, from 9:30 am to 1 pm. Three lecturers and five students from the School of Optometry attended the event. Five participants who were schoolteachers from schools in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor registered for the workshop. Participants were given a screening kit containing the presentation printout notes, laminated vision chart, occluder, pen torch, measuring tape and recording forms. Before conducting the workshop, participants were given a questionnaire to test their knowledge of eye screening. After the presentation session on vision screening and eye anomalies, the lecturers from the School of Optometry gave a demonstration session on vision screening. After that, all participants participated in the practical hands-on session to assess visual acuity. At the end of the session, a post-test questionnaire was given to all participants to assess their knowledge. All schoolteachers were given the screening kit to be taken back to their respective schools to share their knowledge and conduct vision screening on their school children.

A workshop "The Neuroscience of Language: Understanding How the Brain Processes Language"; on 20th April 2023 from 3 pm-4:30 pm. Around 20 participants attended the workshop. The participants get to explore the fascinating intersection between the brain and language and gain a deeper understanding of the complex processes that underpin our ability to communicate. Participants get to know that language is one of the most fundamental aspects of human communication, allowing us to express our thoughts, emotions, and ideas.

The brain process and interpret language, neural mechanisms that allow us to understand and produce speakers, and how brain ability develops over the course of our lives. We also explored many issues through the deep into the cutting-edge research and technology that is driving our understanding of the brain and language, and integrate the implications of this research for fields such as education, psychology, and linguistics. I am confident that this conference was a rewarding experience by embracing this opportunity to unlock the secrets of the brain and language. Access to Workshop:

Online Session

The online session of the International Conference on Modern Medicine and Global Health (ICMMGH 2023) was held on April 15, 2023. Professor Kaushik Chattopadhyay from the University of Nottingham, Professor Chao Wang from Kingston University, London, Professor Lili Asma Ismail from UCSI University, and Professor Sheiladevi Sukumaran from SEGi University have given keynote speeches on related topics of supply chains, global economy, etc. Also, we invited authors of qualified papers to deliver oral presentations at the Online Session. Eleven authors have presented their studies of biomedical engineering, pharmaceutical science, medicine, public health, etc. Questions from the audience were collected and answered by the presenters.
