The Symposium of Biomedical Imaging and AI Applications in Neurorehabilitation was held on Friday, 14 November 2025, at the University of Auckland as part of the 4th International Conference on Modern Medicine and Global Health (ICMMGH 2026). The symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, and students from diverse disciplines to explore the latest advances in neuroimaging, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and intelligent neurorehabilitation.

The programme showcased cutting-edge research across stroke outcome prediction, brain frailty and small-vessel disease modelling, functional and motor recovery forecasting, and multimodal MRI analysis in early brain development. Presentations highlighted innovative AI methodologies such as federated learning, machine unlearning, curriculum learning for dense prediction networks, and interpretable neurosymbolic approaches. The symposium also emphasised emerging connections with brain–computer interface (BCI) technologies and data-driven neurorehabilitation tools.

Overall, the symposium provided a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas and fostering new collaborations, advancing the intersection of neuroimaging, AI, and intelligent neurorehabilitation within the global medical research community.

Symposium Chair: Dr. Sheiladevi Sukumaran, Associate Professor in SEGi University

The symposium titled Cell and Molecular Biology: Understanding Immune Cell Functions, delivered by Associate Professor Ts Dr. Sheiladevi Sukumaran, Ms.Nurul Salwana, Ms.Glory and Mr. Yang Xinlin, provided a comprehensive overview of the immune system from a cell and molecular biology perspective. The session covered the fundamental structure and function of the immune system, highlighting the roles of key immune cells such as neutrophils, macrophages, dendritic cells, natural killer (NK) cells, T lymphocytes, and B lymphocytes. Participants were introduced to the distinction between innate and adaptive immunity and explored essential cellular processes including phagocytosis, antigen presentation, apoptosis, and immune cell communication through cytokines and receptor–ligand interactions. The symposium also emphasized the clinical relevance of immune cell functions, illustrating how immune dysregulation contributes to autoimmune diseases, immunodeficiency disorders, allergies, and cancer, as well as its importance in immunotherapy and vaccine development. Overall, the session reinforced the concept that effective immune defense relies on coordinated interactions among specialized immune cells and precise molecular signaling mechanisms. The symposium successfully linked fundamental cell biology concepts with real-world medical applications, enhancing participants’ understanding of immune-related health and disease. The symposium was held on 16th January, commencing at 10:30 a.m., and was attended by 24 participants.

The symposium entitled “Eco-environmental Optimization of Honeybee Forage Sources for Standard Quality Honey Production in Apiculture Industry” was held at the University of Education Lahore Pakistan under the supervision of Dr. Ghulam Yaseen and other organizers of the Division of Science and technology, University of Education Lahore, Pakistan. The symposium covered the latest techniques of detection of Honeybee forage sources and their ecological impacts. The resource person of the symposium was Prof. Dr. Shabnum Shaheen from the Lahore College University for Women, Lahore Pakistan. The resource person Enlighted the in-depth knowledge and practical techniques on the subject matter. The symposium was attended by the research students, Ph.D scholars and faculty members. All participants got the detail knowledge on: honeybees for a sustainable future of honey; diverse world of honeybees; ecology of honeybee forage sources; economic impacts of honeybee forages, understanding the vital role of honeybee forages; eco-environmental challenges for apiculture Industry; environmental management practices and optimization strategies for the honey industry as well as for honeybee health; monitoring honeybee health for sustainable apiculture practices. It was concluded that honeybees are vital component for the development and promotes sustainable beekeeping to support livelihoods and to conserve biodiversity. Beekeeping industry is important to assist people living in poor and remote areas of the world, and to raise awareness about the value of sustainable development. This report summarizes the key takeaways conclusions from the symposium, highlighting the exciting possibilities and advancements in this field.
